Hi,
I use Magic to generate a live video which reacts to a live music input. Magic is compatible with the open source video routing software Spout. Do you know if it is possible to then route this video into Splash (Windows version) ?
Thanks in advance !

Hi @MangoPickle,
The support for Windows is still missing some important pieces, and in particular there is not support for Spout or NDI there. On Linux Splash supports NDI though, through the ndi2shmdata tool. You can find some information here: Using with NDI network streams - Splash 0.10.14 documentation
So the easiest for now would be to run Splash another (Linux) computer, and sending video frames from Magic to Splash through the network using NDI, using the MagicNDI addon for example.
At some point I would like to add native support for NDI into Splash, so that it can be included into the Windows build. But I’m not sure how to handle the license of NDI yet.
To continue on this topic, I looked into the NDI documentation once again and it seems that they changed a bit how their license works. It seems that it is now easier to integrate into an open source project: https://docs.ndi.video/all/developing-with-ndi/sdk/dynamic-loading-of-ndi-libraries
So I’ll probably look into adding NDI support natively into Splash in the coming weeks, which will make it available on Windows to!
Hello there,
Just so you know, that latest release of Splash now supports NDI on Windows. That means that you can do exactly what you suggest, but using NDI instead of Spout. There might be a slight overhead compared to Spout but it should be minimal.
You can download the latest version of Splash here: https://splashmapper.xyz/en/install/windows_package.html.
